Erasmus+ Activity Combines Mathematics and Emotional Intelligence in 9th Grade Classroom (LER)

Vaslui, Romania – April 29, 2026 – Students of class IX D at the “Emil Racoviță” Theoretical High School in Vaslui participated in an interactive learning activity coordinated by teacher Constanti Jitariu, durig ת the second phase of implementing methods developed within the Erasmus+ project “Emotional Intelligence Approach on Teaching Methods” (Project No. 2024–1‑ES01-KA220-SCH-000253249).

The activity integrated the educational tool “Gratitude”, developed by the Finnish partner school Naantalin Lukio, into a mathematics revision lesson focused on trigonometric functions (sine, cosine, tangent, and cotangent). This innovative approach combined cognitive and emotional learning in a meaningful classroom experience.

Students worked on problem-solving tasks, collaborated in pairs, and explained their strategies, reinforcing both understanding and communication skills. In addition, they reflected on their learning progress and the support they received throughout the activity.

A distinctive element of the lesson was the expression of gratitude through emotion-based stickers and written messages addressed to classmates, the teacher, and the learning environment. This component encouraged students to recognize positive interactions and develop a deeper sense of appreciation and connection.
