Erasmus+ Activity “The World Around Us” Connects Language Learning with Environmental Awareness (LER)
Vaslui, Romania – April 30, 2026 – Students of class X D at the “Emil Racoviță” Theoretical High School in Vaslui participated in an engaging English lesson titled “The World Around Us – Environment”, delivered by teacher Loredana Toma as part of the Erasmus+ project “Emotional Intelligence Approach on Teaching Methods” (Project No. 2024–1‑ES01-KA220-SCH-000253249).
The activity was based on an educational tool developed במסגרת the international Erasmus+ partnership by Agrupamento de Escolas Gil Eanes (Portugal). Within the project, the Università degli Studi di Palermo (UNIPA), Italy, coordinates Work Package 2, which focuses on the development and testing of innovative teaching methods.
The lesson combined English language learning with meaningful discussions about environmental issues and the emotional responses they generate. Students explored topics such as pollution and microplastics through a variety of interactive tasks.
During the activity, students engaged in discussions based on visual materials related to pollution, watched an informative video about microplastics, practiced topic-specific vocabulary and grammar exercises, collaborated in pairs and groups to formulate ideas, and reflected on their own feelings and possible real-life actions.
