Meeting with CPCJ – Commission for the Protection of Children and Young People (AEGE)
Within the framework of the project on Emotional Intelligence in education, AE Gil Eanes organised a meeting with representatives from the Commission for the Protection of Children and Young People (CPCJ). The session was facilitated by the school’s social educator, Patrícia Almeida.
The meeting provided an opportunity to present the project’s objectives, particularly its focus on equipping teachers with innovative pedagogical tools based on Emotional Intelligence. CPCJ representatives shared their experience in preventing and addressing situations that may place children and young people at risk.
The discussion highlighted the importance of emotional awareness, empathy and communication in promoting safe and supportive school environments. Participants emphasised that educational practices grounded in Emotional Intelligence can help teachers better identify students’ emotional needs and respond appropriately to challenging situations.
The meeting strengthened the collaboration between the school and local child protection services, reinforcing the shared commitment to promoting students’ well-being, safety and healthy development.
