Emotional Intelligence in Focus during Citizenship Classes
As part of the Citizenship and Development subject, students took part in a hands-on Emotional Intelligence session designed to promote self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation.
During the session, students had the opportunity to identify, recognize, explore, and reflect on different emotions, drawing from everyday situations to better understand how emotions influence behavior and interpersonal relationships.
In addition to working with students, the session also served as a demonstration for Citizenship teachers — many of whom also teach other subjects — showing how Emotional Intelligence can be applied in the classroom through practical strategies and participatory activities that foster emotional expression, active listening, and respect for differences.
Through roleplays, group dynamics, and moments of sharing, both students and teachers experienced concrete examples of how to integrate emotional learning into the educational context, promoting a more empathetic, collaborative, and emotionally aware environment.
This initiative highlights the school’s role as a space for holistic development, where, alongside academic learning, social and emotional skills are equally valued — essential for personal well-being and for success in both school and life.
