Mathematics and Resilience

Within the Erasmus+ project “Emotional Intelligence Approach on Teaching Methods” (Ref. no. 2024–1‑ES01-KA220-SCH-000253249), a Mathematics lesson at Liceul Teoretic “Emil Racoviță” Vaslui addressed both cognitive and emotional challenges through the study of logarithms.

Students often experience anxiety and frustration in Mathematics. To overcome this, the lesson emphasized collaboration, patience, and stress management. Learners worked in groups, encouraged one another, and reflected on how emotions affected their ability to solve problems.

By integrating emotional intelligence, the activity helped reduce math anxiety and fostered confidence and resilience. This lesson is part of the OTC contribution prepared by LER, showing teachers across Europe how to combine mathematics with socio-emotional learning.
