Students Strengthen Environmental Awareness Through Emotional Intelligence (AEGE)
Students at Agrupamento de Escolas Gil Eanes took part in an innovative English lesson that combined environmental education with emotional intelligence. Through the activity “My Carbon Footprint in the Environment,” learners explored how environmental issues connect to personal emotions and daily habits. Using picture descriptions, a video on microplastics, vocabulary tasks, and reflection exercises, students practiced language skills while developing empathy, emotional regulation, and responsible decision‑making. The session ended with a reflection circle where each student identified an emotion and a concrete action to reduce their environmental impact, reinforcing both linguistic growth and ecological responsibility.
